Motivational Interviewing Training

April 8 @ 9:00 am - April 9 @ 4:00 pm

Monthly series on Motivational Interviewing

The first month will include a two-day in-person training, and the following months will be virtual.
Topics include introductory principles and advance skills in motivational interviewing.

The Motivational Interviewing (MI) training equips judicial staff with practical tools to work with individuals who may be hesitant or resistant, helping them build trust, foster openness, and create a safe environment for communication. Staff will learn to work collaboratively, guiding individuals to explore motivations, resolve ambivalence, and take meaningful steps to improve their situation, rather than directing them. Techniques include reflective listening, guided questioning, and structured communication to support autonomy, articulate goals, and identify solutions within the context of court, supervision, or behavioral health requirements.

Audience: Supervision officers (Pretrial, Probation, Navigators), Management and Judges
