SUMMARY:Judicial Science School
DESCRIPTION:Judicial Science School (JSS) is a weeklong program at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. \nLaunched in the spring of 2014\, the weeklong program was developed through close collaboration among the New Mexico judiciary\, the Laboratory’s top science and engineering leaders\, and the Laboratory’s Legal Counsel. The close collaboration between our science and legal professionals has helped to develop a complete primer on the scientific method that is tailored for judges. \nThe purpose of the course is to provide the judges with an understanding of the methodology of modern scientific research and the role of uncertainty inherent in all measurements\, models\, and predictions. The goal is to offer the knowledge and tools that will better prepare judges to evaluate science based evidence in the courtroom\, whether determining threshold admissibility or making decisions that involve evidence-based court practices or risk assessments. \nAudience: All Judges \nContact: courteducation@nmcourts.xyz

DESCRIPTION:The Legacy Leadership and Management Program – Class of 2028 JEM Silver program – is an investment in the future leadership of the New Mexico Judiciary. It is designed to foster a network of professionals who support one another across jurisdictions\, share knowledge and expertise\, and contribute to a stronger\, more responsive court system that serves the people of New Mexico with integrity and professional excellence. Participants are selected through an application process open to court staff. This orientation is the starting point for JEM Silver + CCM Class of 2028.
